don’t back out. step out.

hi people!!!  welcome back!

as school was coming to a close, one day while I was in the library, I’m a library assistant, (I know right, haha) one of the librarians and I started talking. we talked about all sorts of movies, and somewhere in this conversation she claimed she was NOT a Nicholas Sparks fan… WHAT SO EVER !!! me, loving anything that has to do with a cute guy and girl falling in love, suddenly felt a rush of disagreement. i continued on with this conversation passionately explaining all the reasons why she should at least consider my all time favorite, The Longest Ride (I mean come on.. have you seen Scott Eastwood?? let’s be real).

then the thought came to me…

WHAT IF I had been talking that passionately about the Bible. what if I had been talking that passionately about Jesus??

each and everyone of us are presented with countless opportunities daily. opportunities to be bold. opportunities to step out. opportunities to ultimately be a world changer.

hey you, yeah you, go change the world!

if you know about Jesus, passionately tell others who may or may not. we are called to live as the light living out lives that ultimately bring Him glory.

with all of that being said… here are two of my favorite tips I have learned and still work on living out daily. Oh! and some of my favorite “Jesus thoughts.”

  1. don’t back out.

in The Me I Want to Be by John Ortberg, he specifically talked about people being able to ramble on and talk about movies with no problem. but, “when it comes to the bible, the conversations becomes stilled. people are so concerned with making sure they get the “right” answer that everyone BACKS out of the conversation.” this could not be more true.

sometimes you will feel called and will be presented with the opportunity to have a hard conversation. it really is not about having all the perfect answers. TELL about the God whose hand created the ocean, the big blue sky, flowers, and you. this world is desperate for people on fire for Christ. don’t back out.

  1. step out

i cannot emphasize this enough. you don’t have to “have it all together” to be a disciple for Christ. do the hard things, the things that no one else will. for goodness sake, if you see someone sitting alone at the lunch table, or really anywhere alone, set down your pride and step out. who knows, they could most likely end up blessing you. as James 1:22 says, “be doers of the word not merely hearers.” APPLY what you’ve learned. apply what you continue to learn. SHARE truth.

let’s be honest here for a moment.. what part of being a disciple for Christ and a Christian leader, and everything else we claim to be includes staying in your comfortable little bubble you’ve created for yourself?? it’s not.

you don’t have to travel across the world, (although if you feel called to that, that’s awesome), to step out. like I said earlier, you can be uncomfortable for Christ by simply walking over to the guy/girl who’s sitting alone at lunch, or anywhere alone, and be a friend.

so with all of that being said, my challenge for myself and everyone reading this is that we step out rather than backing out. be bold. take that next step. have that conversation. you never know the way God will move in your heart and others. plant seeds and watch God grow them.

XOXO LOVLIES
