the smoothie wizard

as I sit here sipping my smoothie with my squishy, must have silicone straw, I thought it would be rude to not share a few of my coveted smoothie making guru tips with you. a process that doesn't require you leaving your house, putting clothes on, or spending $10 on fruit.

1. frozen fruit

I have found that frozen fruit is what gives smoothies the consistency we all desire. while some use ice to thicken their smoothies, ice tends to make a less smooth consistency that is gross and watered down in my opinion.

always remember to only buy organic frozen fruits!

2. you really do not need as much fruit as you think

despite sharon from the smoothie shop putting 3 bananas in your smoothie, I would say a handful + a half frozen banana does the trick. this helps keep the calories and carbs down while still getting all the vitamins and benefits of fruits. you are welcome.

fruits act as forms of medicine and should not be avoided. moderation is key.

3. practice makes perfect

just because your favorite lifestyle blogger posts a recipe & you follow it to the t, does not mean bada bang badaboom - you have recreated her masterpiece in one try. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, BUT depending on what blender you use and more, you most likely will have to give it a few shots to nail it. with that being said, don't worry, with a few tries & adjustments you will nail it.

experiment and see what works best for you and your blender of choice!

4. smoothie bowl toppings

WHY in the world someone thought it would be a good idea to trick everyone into thinking granola on top of smoothie bowls would be a good idea?? idk. I'm not appreciative of them or their idea, sorry! the carbs and grains in granola, while delicious (purely elizabeth original. ugh) were not meant to be combined with fruits. from both research and personal experience, I have found that fruit digests much quicker than granola. this causes your stomach to be in a state of discomfort, and also tends to mess up your digestion + more. ya, no thanks!!

top your smoothie with unsweetened coconut shreds, raw cacao nibs, and organic bee pollen. all in moderation of course.

5. always add spinach

why you may ask? because we all need more greens than we are intaking + shhh you don't taste it!

rich in vitamins to promote glowing skin, increased oxygen, a wicked immune system, decreased inflammation, exc. not kidding. wouldn't make this up.

I hope this helps you make the smoothie of your dreams and makes you feel like a healthy goddess ready to conquer the world. with skin that glows and an extra $10 in your wallet.

have any smoothie tips I didn't include? for real, let me know. just a community helping one another!!
